In July 2008, MAIET signed a contract to release the sequel for GunZ, titled GunZ: The Duel 2.[3] In March 2009, MAIET pushed back the date of release from 2009 to 2010, citing "new materials".[4]

The international server ended May 15 2009. The MAIET and International service websites state that this is due to this edition's "limited access to game content and insufficient online support compare to the official versions due to the current game policy."
